Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed "Omodu" Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, recently hosted a gathering of prominent traditional leaders from the Soso, Loko, Limba, and Themne tribal chiefs in the Western Area Urban District. These chiefs officially endorsed his candidacy for the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party flagbearership, marking a significant political boost ahead of the 2026 NDC. The event highlighted a strong alliance between cultural heritage and political ambition.
During the ceremony, Chief Pa Alimamy Kama Kargbo presented Jagaban with a symbolic traditional crown and an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to national development and his deep respect for traditional values. He was also conferred a chieftaincy title by Chief Pa Komrabai Kai Gbla I, further affirming the tribal leaders’ unified support. The chiefs emphasized unity, peace, and cultural pride as essential traits in future national leadership.
In his response, Jagaban expressed profound gratitude, describing the occasion as both emotional and spiritually meaningful. He lamented the diminishing role of traditional leaders in Sierra Leone and pledged to restore their authority if elected. Reiterating that his presidential ambition is driven by service, not personal gain, he vowed to donate his presidential salary to charity. He concluded by urging the chiefs to mobilize support among APC delegates in the lead-up to the 2026 elections.
