Police Uncover Major Kush Stash in Fourah Bay — Over 4,500 Wraps Seized at Malta Lane
Freetown, Sierra Leone | November 4, 2025 — In a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking, the Operations Team of the Harbour Police Division has intercepted a large quantity of substances suspected to be Kush at No. 11 Malta Lane, in the Fourah Bay community, Freetown.
According to police reports, the successful operation was spearheaded by ASP Francis Tommy and his team during a routine security patrol. Officers initially apprehended Mathew Hindowa, who was found in possession of 74 wraps of suspected Kush at Malta Lane.
Following intelligence gathered at the scene, the police swiftly obtained and executed a search warrant for the premises, which is reportedly owned by Unisa Koroma, alias “Maff” — now a fugitive.
The ensuing search yielded a massive discovery:
Over 4,500 wraps of suspected Kush
15 ounces of the substance
Two additional loose quantities believed to be Kush
And Le 50,800, suspected to be proceeds from the drug trade
Police sources confirmed that all seized items have been carefully documented and are being held as exhibits for evidence. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the main suspect and trace the origin of the illegal substances.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking in Sierra Leone, emphasizing that similar operations will continue across the country to dismantle criminal networks fueling the spread of Kush and other harmful substances.
